Camping & RV Reservations

Reservations can be made beginning 4/14/26 at 8am for reservations of one week or longer and 4/21/26 at 8am for reservations of 2-14 nights.

All those who log into the system before 8am on each of the opening days will be put into a queue in a random order. All those who log in at 8am or later will be placed at the end of the queue. 

Reservations made between 8am on April 14th and 8am on April 21st cannot be modified or cancelled. If a cancellation is requested for reservations made during this period, no refunds will be issued. 

"FCFS"= First Come First Served



Some of our campgrounds are first come first serve only and do not accommodate reservations and some of our campgrounds are open year-round. 

 

Facility Closures:

  • Lake Spaulding Area (Camp, Day-use and Boat Launch) 
    Closed for the 2026 season due to work at the dam
  • Fordyce and Sterling Lake 
    Closed 2024-2026 for Dam repair project.
  • Last Chance Creek Campground 
    Closed indefinitely due to Fire Damage
  • Camp Conery
    Closed indefinitely due to fire damage
  • Black Rock Campground
    Closed indefinitely due to fire damage
  • Kilarc Day Use Area
    Closed for 2026 Season

What FIRE RESTRICTIONS are in place because of wildfire risk? 

NOT ALLOWED at any time or under any Fire Index Rating
- Use of explosives, fireworks, and other pyrotechnic devices 
- Use of chainsaws Use of firearms, air rifles, or gas guns

- Any open flame outside of designated fire rings or BBQs (e.g. non-designated fire rings, tiki torches, etc.) 
- Driving vehicles off designated roads
- Parking vehicles outside designated parking areas

- Generators are not to be left unattended while running. 

Wildfire risk mitigation measures for allowed activities (subject to applicable fire index rating)

The following must have at least 10 feet of clearance from vegetation and flammable materials:
- Fires (allowed in designated structures only, must be supervised at all times and be fully extinguished prior to leaving the site)
- Charcoal grills and generators

The following must have at least 3 feet of clearance from vegetation and flammable materials:
- Petroleum and liquid petroleum gas devices
- Battery powered devices, cord powered devices and power cords
- Smoking (must have a butt receptacle and a bucket of water)
- Citronella candles (no other types of candles are allowed)

Fire Index Rating based restrictions

The current Fire Index Ratings will be posted on main campground and day use facility bulletin boards for your information and are regularly updated based on changing wildfire risk conditions.

When the Fire Index Rating is 
R4 (Very High):
Use of charcoal grills will be prohibited.

When the Fire Index Rating is 
R5 (Extreme):
all fires will be prohibited except for LPG with a shut-off valve. (Smoking will only be allowed within vehicles/RVs)

When the Fire Index Rating is 
R5-PLUS (Extreme Plus):
all fires and flames will be prohibited, including petroleum and LPG devices

The following activities will be restricted to within vehicles/RVs:
smoking, use of generators, use of battery powered devices with motors, extension cords and devices with power cords

Bear Valley Group Campground Bear Valley Group Camping Area is an ideal location to enjoy incredible scenery and a multitude of outdoor activities in Northern California. Located close to rivers, lakes and trails, the campground welcomes up to 100 people at a time for day use and up to 50 people at a time for overnight camping. The nearby Bear river and South Yuba river offer recreation opportunities. Multiple lakes including Fuller, Rucker, Spaulding and Lake Valley provide plenty of choices for swimmers, boaters and anglers to get out and enjoy the water. Additional use fees may apply at these and other nearby facilities and are not included in the Bear Valley Group Camping fees. The Sierra Discovery Trail winds through the head of Bear Valley along the Bear River where a small waterfall is one of the highlights, and a picnic area lets you stop and take in the scenery while taking a break. Interpretive signs and a kiosk are located at the trailhead.

Food Preparation/Dining Facilities: Built-in BBQ, food prep/serving tables, picnic-table seating for up to 100 people, potable water and ice-machine at the adjacent pump house, bear-proof food lockers, electrical outlets for small appliances, (no RV hook-ups), dumpster for trash disposal, and area lighting is provided.

Camping Amenities: Tent camping on designated lawn areas (NO CAMPING ON MAIN LAWN) and in wooded areas, adjacent overflow parking areas. Paved, level parking for multiple RV's, (no hook-ups), Potable water spigots and two double vault toilet facilities are also on-site. Bear-proof food lockers keep your groceries safe, while a built-in barbecue, prep. tables, serving tables, and picnic-table seating help feed a crowd.

For entertainment, there are horseshoe pits, a sand volleyball court (bring your own net) and a group fire pit to gather around. Reservations are made through our on-line system.
